Oxford city

Oxford, The City of Dreaming Spires, is famous the world over for its University and place in history. For over 800 years, it has been home to royalty and scholars. Nowadays, the city is a bustling cosmopolitan place, still with its ancient University, but home also to a growing hi-tech community.
With its mix of ancient and modern, there is plenty for visitors to enjoy. Whether its visiting one of the many historic buildings, colleges or museums, going out for a drink or a meal, taking in a show or shopping.

About the Oxford University Examination Schools

Evidence Live 2013 is being held at the historic Oxford University Examination Schools, designed and built by Thomas Jackson as the University examination centre between 1876 and 1881. The building stands on a part of the site of the Angel Inn, which is reputed to have been the first Inn in England and is located in the centre of Oxford high street. The Examination Schools provides high quality, modern conference facilities for conferences and events. Every year thousands of undergraduates sit their exams in this historical Grade II listed building, which is commonly known as the “Schools” in traditional sub-fusc (black and white attire which is an Oxford tradition that is still rigidly enforced).

Accommodation

To help make your experience in Oxford as easy and comfortable as possible we have negotiated preferential rates at University rooms and some Oxford hotels.

Oxford college accommodation is a cost-effective alternative to staying in a hotel. With centrally located bed and breakfast (B & B) rooms and dining in the college hall, you can trace the footsteps of Ghandi, Bill Clinton, Hugh Grant or the 25 British Prime Ministers who have passed through Oxford colleges. Preferential rates are available at the colleges closest to the Conference: Balliol, Corpus Christi College, Lincoln College, Trinity College, Queens College.
